ROUTES TO KARORI
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Karori residents should be grate* ful to Mr. E. J. Pilcher for his efforts to) secure for them a route which would bq such an immense improvement on any* thing yet proposed. At the deputation to the Mayor, Mr. Pilcher stated that th« people on the Karori side would be de« lighted with a route to bring them into Uia city fifteen to twenty minutes quicker than at present, with a probable saving in tho end of half an hour." It is interesting to note that, taking the Karori tunnel aa the central point, the schedule time right round the present route to the Manners street corner is 19 minutes, and on tho outward journey one minute more i$ allowed. It is obvious that the improve. ment of the route and the provision of double tracks will materially lessen th« time for the journey. However, if Mr. Pilcher s figures are correct, let us got bald-headed" for his route, for we shall be there before we start.'—l am, etc., JULES VERNE UP-TO-DATE. .
