OPENING RATES MAINTAINED
Australian 'Troaa Association. (Received 2nd may, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Ist Hay. Offerings were 8247, of which 2SGO were Xcw Zealand. There was an average selection of. merinos, including a quantity •of average style scoureds. A medium offering of all descriptions of crossbrals met .ivith good general competition. Opening rates -were maintained. Realisations: New Zcaiands: Birchill, 21% dto 2O',id; Brnxton, 18d to 17d; Mason Hills, 21',-id to 20d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London House under date 30th ultimo: — ■""Wool Sales.—There was a full attendance at the opening of the Sales to-day, competition by Home and French buyers being good, and prices as compared with the close of preceding series ruled in buyers' favour,for merino; crossbred unchanged. Very poor selection of merino wool." Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated Ist May: "Compared with last London sale's closing rates, greasy merino, market irregular, par to 5 per cent, decline; inferior descriptions for topmaking eliow the greatest decline; opening rates April series, with closing rates March series, shown in parentheses, are as follow: 60/64's (New Zealand merino), yieldong 48 per cent., 19d (19d); JiU's, yielding 00 per cent., 20V«d (20% d); 50's. yielding '&> per cent.. ISVad (18',=d); 44/4U's preparing, yielding 74 per cent.. WM (16% d); 44/46's carding, yielding 72 per cent., 16d (16d); 40/44's yielding 73 ncr «ent., lo'id (15Kd)."
