CLOSER SETTLEMENT
MINISTER IN WAIRARAPA

CARTERTON, This Day.
The Hon. G. W. Forbes (Minister of Lands), accompanied by Colonel T. W. M'Donald, M.P. for Wairarapa, arrived in Grcytown last night, and was received by. the Mayor and councillors at; the Town Hall.
The Minister gave an interesting address, and spoke of the pleasure it had given him to see the splendid lands of the Lower Valley. From information received, he was prepared to place the question of closer settlement before his colleagues. He laid down the lines on which the Government was prepared to proceed to attain closer settlement, and also to do away with the unemployment trouble.
After tho, address, the Minister received all,who desired to place matters concerning closer settlement before him, and promised that the points noted would be carefully inquired into. Hewas accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The Minister arrives at Carterton to-day.
