PALMEESTON N., This Day. Work was commenced at the railway deviation to-day in tearing up the eight miles of track laid, and the collection of materials for storage. Several officers have received notice - of! transfer to tho Gisborne and Nelson districts. About 90 per cent, of the men have (Signified their willingness to transfer to: other undertakings. Ten merr are' pro--.ceeding to Gisborne on Mondayy'aiid forty more will go by the.erid^f next 1 week. There are 150 general labourers employed on the deviation!
