TONGARIRO NATIONAL PARK.

Commendable enterprise has been shown by the Railway Department, acting in conjunction with the new Tongariro Park Tourist Company, in arranging cheap weekend trips to New Zealand's big National Park during the winter months. The first excursion will be run next week-end, and the intention is to continue them through out the. winter. Passengers from Welling ton -will" travel by the Wellington-Auck-land express, leaving Thorndon at 2 p.m onlTriday or Saturday. Passengers from Napier, Wanganui, and intermediate sta-tions-will connect with'tbis'train at Palmerston" North and Marton respective^. They'will be met at. National: Park railway station by motor-cars and conveyed to Whakapapa Lodge, a distance of! about ten miles. Pending the completion, of the modern chateau now in the course of construction, visitors will be well accommodated at the lodge. The special trips provide ofr either 1% or 2% days'; stay at the Park, and the return journey will be made by the .Auckland-Wellington express train arriving Wellington at 12.38 p.m.
