MORTORING ACCIDENT
BOWLING PARTY ESCAPES

AUCKLAND, This Day. A motor-.car carrying a party of Pukekohe bowlers returning from Pukekohe had a narrow escape from injury on Saturday evening when the motorcar in which they were travelling collided with a motor-cycle at the corner of Great South road and Bedoubt road, Wiri. In a fruitless effort to avoid; a collision, the driver of the car, Mr. Bert Sumner, swerved off the concrete road/ dropping several ' feet to the old road level. He was unable to check the vehicle, which vaulted a ditch and crashed into a hedge. The occupants ' escaped uninjured. The motor-cycle, which was ridden by V. B. Comer, stiuck the side of the car and was damaged extensively. Comer was thrown clear, suffering facial injuries and bruises. fi After receiving medical attention he was conveyed to Auckland Hospital. Shortly after ; the accident a party of Otahuhu -bowlers, who had been playing at Pukekohe, came on the scene, and helped to extricate the car. Although the windscreen was shattered and the running board and radiator damaged, the car was able to proceed on its journey.
