MAGISTRATE'S COURT
To-day's cases ut the Magistrate's Court were heard by Messrs. D. 11. Edgar and J. E. Staples, J.P.'s.
George Jones, aged 37, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. lor using obscene language, which he said he did not remember as he was drunk, he was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment.
Margaret Diamond, aged 50, was fined £2 for assaulting Eleanor Eaton Oliver, wife of the licensee of the Alhambra Hotel. behaviour while drunk cost her £1. and on a charge of damaging ,i cell utensil, valued at 11s (id, she was convicted and ordered to make good the damage. Mr. W. ]C. Leicester, who appeared for the defendant, .said that financial troubles had preyed on her mind, and she was not really responsible for her actions, when she committed the offences.
