LOWER HUTT GALA
The annual gala on the Hutt Bccreation Ground opened this afternoon under ideal weather conditions, and showed promise of being the best since tho galas were started in 1923. A seven-a-side Bugby tourney wa3 the main item on this afternoon's programme, to-night's special attraction being dancing on the lawn to tho music of the Hutt Municipal Baud. Tho gain is to continue on Monday "morning until midnight, when it will finally close. A Soccer match between Thistle and Hutt. has been set down for Monday, morning, and in the afternoon an amateur athletic meeting under the auspices of the Lower Hutt Club will be held. The third attrition on Monday will be a Highland dancing competition, and there will be more dancing on the lawn in tho evening. Besides the special items mentioned the numerous sideshows will bo open throughout the duration of the gala, which by reason of tho excellent programme arranged should continuo to draw good crowds-until its conclusion.
