MANAWATU TOURNEY
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post")
PALMERSTON N., This Day. After the splendid weather experienced early in the week, there was keen disappointment amongst bowlers yesterday when rain came to spoil the opening of the Manawatu Centre's Easter rink tourney. The games were proceeded with, however, coats and umbrellas proving of service, especially in the afternoon, when there was an almost continuous drizzle. The greens were soon soaked, and each bowl sent down raised a trail of spray.
The president of the Manawatu Centre (Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P.) extended a welcome to the visiting players, some of whom had been present at previous tourneys. .Provided that the weather proved favourable, lie thought the greens would be found in quite nice bowling condition, although perhaps a little heavy as a result of the wet.
Play was conducted ou the Palmerston North, Terrace End, and Mauawatu Club's greens, and the wins and losses of each rink are given below, the name of the skip alone being mentioned:— A Section.—W.
