Marshal Foch's last words were: "Now I am ready." According to a moving description of tho last scene given by Dr. Davcnicre, Foch's medical attendant, '' the Marshal was reclining in an armchair, which had boon drawn up to a window, so that he might see tho passers-by. Presently ho raised his wasted hand and moved a curtain asido in order to sco better. The young doctor, who was watching said, 'Wouldn't you like to go to bed now 1?' to which came tho pathetic reply, 'All right, but give mo a little longer.' Tho doctor agreed and turned to see whether the bod was ready. Meanwhile tho Marshal raised himself in the chair, saying, 'Now I am ready,' then fell back in the chair with white faco and staring eyes. Tho doctor rushed to his bag and took out a hypodermic needle and gave several injections unavailingly. The Marshal passed away in the doctor's arms. Mesdames Foeh and Beeourfc -came from the adjoining room and saw him breathe his last." Dr. Davenicre adds that when he and his colleague wore summoned by telephone they could only confirm that death had taken place.
