PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

Continuing the new sound picture policy, the Paramount management announces tho presentation, commencing to-day at the matinee at 2.30, of a completely new programme of the Fox sound films, with screenings daily at 2.30 and nightly at 8 o'clock for a limited season. The opening subject is v Fox movietone news reel containing all the happenings of the day, presented in sight and sound. Xotablc "shots" arc those depicting an Important American turf event—one hears the starter's cautionary remarks to the jockeys waiting for the barrier, the click of the barrier release, and the roar of Ihe giant crowd as the horses bound away to a perfect start. Thrilling are tile sounds of the thudding'hoofs and the. tremendous cheering as the horses finish. The voice of Mrs. Coolldge is also heard as she christens a newly-completed airship. The second item is by Beatrice Liilie, the celebrated American Vaudeville comedienne, who contributes comedy vocal numbers in addition to laughable pantomiming. Ben Bernie's Band, a clever continental jazz band, have scored a big hit wherever the film lias been shown in their repertoire of jazz numbers, vocal items, and some decidedly clever original compositions. The place of honour, in reviewers' opinions, on the supporting programme is held by the all-talking comedy, "Ihe Hath Between."
