BAD MANNERS IN CHURCH
La (be January number of his church magazine, the Rector of Finehley, the Key. Stewart Beriiayß, writes:— "Complaint liaa been made to me of one or two young ladies who seem to think it necessary to powder their hoses during evensong' on Sundays. "I suffered myself at the theatre a few months ago by a girl combing her hair in between the scenes over my dress clothes, j I was tempted, in my mid-Victorian wrath,' to take my shaving thiligs with me uext time and see how a good shave would interest the audience. ... j "But when it comes to performing one's toilet in a church we Boem to have reach-1 ed the limit of bad manners. I purposely leave out the question of irreverence, btit j even the most shiny nose might be left in its native element till our worship of God is over."
