' Shipping activity on'the'Wellington waterfront during the. present week, has been remarkably brisk, resulting in. a general shortages of labour on the wharves. The following overseas vessels arc "in port to-day ;—Cornwall (Federal Co.), Middlesex (Federal Co.), Canadian Conqueror (Canadian National Steamships), lonic (Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co.), Hororata (New Zealand Shipping Comp.any), Golden Boar (0.0. and N. Co.), and Ampullaria- (Shell Oil Co.). The above vessels have a total gross measurement of 59,333 tons. Members of the Harbourmaster's stall were kept very busy this morning, as no fewer than six large ships had to bo handled between 6i40 a.m. and 10.20 a.m. Tiiß Argyllshire left at 6.40 a.m. for London, and was followed by thOi-Northumbcrlaud: and Port Pirie, both at 7.a.m., for London and Auckland respectively. AMPULLARIA ARRIVES. ; Nearly' .a''week overdue on\'a '■ voyage from Singapore and Surabaya, the Shell Co.'s tanker Ampullaria arrived in the stream at. 8.50 a.m. to-day, and .berthed later at the Burnham Wharf. Tlio Awpullaria loaded benzine at both the above ports, sailing from Surabaya on 14th February with a full-cargo of 7000 tons. Good weather was experienced until 21st February, when she reached Thursday Island and picked up a coastal pilot for the Queensland coast On 28th February the vessel entered a very heavy cyclone, and hove-to about 15 miles off Capo Moreton until ■ 2 p.m. the next day, when the weather cleared ' sufficiently to allow the pilot, to bo dropped. The weather was moderate during the next day until about 4.30 p.m., when she,again entered the cyclone, and was forced to heave-to until 8.30 o'clock the following morning.
