MINISTER OF LANDS
VISIT TO WAIROA

WAIBOA, This Day. The Minister of Lands (the Hon. G. W. Forbes), accompanied by Mr. J. B. Thompson "(Under-Secretary of Lauds).and Messrs. ..Thomson, and Farnie, Commissioners of Crown Lands at Napier and Gisborne respectively, arrived in. Wairoa last evening. They received numerous deputations, mostly concerning the urgent need of closer settlement in this district. The Minister waa impressed and promised to assist any suitable lands available. Afterwards he was entertained at a smoke concert, 'which was largely attended by members of local bodies and leading citizens. ': Tho Ministerial party visits to-day various soldier settlements, and going on to Waikiiremoana, will leave for Gisborne on Thursday morning, via the Haiigaroa railway route.
