CHILD WELFARE
WORK IN AUSTRALIA

AUCKLAND, This Day.
News that a branch factory of the; Karitano Products Society had . been founded in Sydney was brought to Auckland yesterday by Sir Truby King, Director of Child Welfare, who roturned by the Ulimaroa from a threo weeks' business visit to Sydney. Sir Truby was kept very busy, • and stated the results of his investigations and negotiations had been highly satisfactory. In \ddition to arranging for the establishment of a branch of tho factory,. Sir Truby also went into matters connected with child welfare in Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart. He did not visit all these places, however, owing to the short time at hia disposal, conflting his lime to Syduey and Canberra. , He also investigated Plunkot Society work.
"I was greatly impressed with the strides that have been made in Sydney in child welfare work since my last visit two or three years ago," Sir Truby King stated, v "The /Karitane Hospital and Mothoreraft Cento there is beautifully situated, the building resembling the Auckland' Karitano Hospital at Mount Albert. Tho work arid organisation,is also carriod out along similar lines." . '.
The Sydney .institution was set amid beautiful surroundings with a wealth of trees. Among theso was a frangipano treo now in flower, and from the Bale of whose blossoms tho hospital received a net profit of. £5 yearly.
On his arrival Sir Truby visited a number of Auckland friends, and later left by train for Wellington,
