DROWNING FATALITY
CLOUDBURST AT TAkwORTH
United Press Association—By Electric TeleCraph—Copyrlebt. (Kecejved 14th February, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The floods on the North Coast are. abating rapidly. William Corrigan was drowned while attempting to swim a swollen creek near Casino. Serious stock losses occurred on the Wilson and Maria Rivers and on the lower Hastings. Horses still alive were observed fighting desperately as they were swept out to sea. Gravel Island, a pleasure resort in the Hastings, has almost disappeared.
Bailway services on the Northern lines wero dislocated as the result of a cloudburst near Tailiworth, ten inches falling in less than half an hour. A huge wall of water many feet deep and half a mile wide swept down on tho township of Duri.
The flood position in tho Hawesbury Valley is improving. The river has fallen six feet, but a vast area is submerged still.
