HUTT VALLEY FLOWER SHOW
Exhibitors are reminded that entries for the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society's mid-summer flower Show .close at noon on Tuesday next. The. society this year is holding a four days' Chelsea Show on Riddiford Park, opening on Wednesday. The reports received from the various committees of the society indicate that the venture will be an unqualified success. A gentleman prominently connected with the Kock Garden Society has undertaken to build a rock garden iri miniature for exhibition, and a member of the committee recently visited the Marlborough Sounds to secure native, flora for a special plot along the banks'of the creek. The schedule for the ordinary competitive classes at this , Show is a very comprehensive one. It comprises opfin and amateur classes for gladioli, dahlias, sweet peas, carnations, asters, general and decorative classes, and vegetables. In the decorative section there should be keen-riv-alry for . the Kersley rose bowl, which will be awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in each of the four Shows. It is expected that at least ten marquees will be required to house tho exhibits, and several of these have already been engaged for trade exhibits, which will be of interest and instructive to all gardeners.
