CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING
With a progrummo .which, promises to be one of the most ontortaining of the series, the New Zealand Swimming Championship Meeting is being concluded at To Arb Baths this afternoon. The possibility- of a close finish to the competition for the Yaldhurst Shield and of thrilling.contests in the remaining championship events has attracted a. large, crowd, to the baths, and there is every indication that the concluding day-of- the meeting will be full of interest to swimming enthusiasts. Events set down for this afternoon include the '440. yards men's and ladies' championships,, the 220 yards ladies' breast-stoke championship, the flying squadron race (teams of five men a-side, each man to swim. 100 yards), in which all the outstanding male performers arc taking part, the 50. yards scratch invitation races "(men's and ladies'), and the final stages of the.men's and ladies diving championships. jfwo water polo games were, played yesterday afternoon; Auckland , (3) beat Otago (1), and Wellington A accounted, for. Wellington B by 2 goals to 1. .. ' ' -
