CHINA'S EGGS
HUGE EXPORTATIONS
The growth of the export trade if eggs from China is quite rapid according to the reports of the Customs (says the- "Chineso Economic Bulletin," published at Shanghai). In 1907, eggs valued at H. K. .Taols 2,379,634 occupied the sixteenth place in the exports of China, while in 192G the export of eggs has climbed up to the third place, valued, at-.Tools 33,173,830. Prior to. the Great War, Germany, Belgium, and France were the great customers . of Chirm's,eggs, but from 1915-1919 their demand for them declined . whilo England increased its purchase. Since 1919, tho egg trade with France has been restored to its former normal condition. Hankow is the great collecting centre of oggs for oxport. Frozen eggs were first exported from thero in 1912 to England, 'then to France, Canada^ and, America. A refrigerating plant was' 'built in Niinking in 19.14 and another in Shanghai in 1910.. Although these plants were somewhat affected by the Great War, they have now recovered. I)i spito of the strict and high import tax in the United States, tho export of eggs from China has been on' the increase during tho last three-years. r
