PUBLIC SERVICE TOURNEY
WON BY STATE ADVANCES
The annual tournament of the Public Service Bowling Association was concluded on the Hataitai green yesterday afternoon. /
In the semi-finals Braekenridgc (Post and Telegraph)- was defeated by G. Mimro (Public Trust) by 23 points to 14. In tho other games .Waddel (State Advances) defeated J. R. Smith (Post and Telegraph), 23-10.
The. result of the final game was as follows:—State Advances —Peare, Burses*, Knowles, Waddel (s),. 18; Public Trust—Gilbert, Purdiei Carrdd, Muiiro .(s), .15.
At'the conclusion of .the game Mr. H. Rose heartily congratulated the winners, saying that it, was the thirteenth tournament, and that it was the first occasion on which the State Advances bad won. He expressed thanks to the Thorndon and Hataitai Clubs for .the use .of their greens, and to the ladies of Hataitai for their excellent entertainment. Handing the shield over to Mr. Waddell (with accompanying badges), he called for three cheers for the winners. Mr.: Rose heartily congratulated the runners-up, and cheers were also given for them. Messrs. Waddell and Munro suitably responded. - , ■■
