FOURTEEN NEW PEAKS
BYRD'S DISCOVERY

AUCKLAND, 6th February. Tho discovery of fourteen hitherto unknown mountain peaks in the Antarctic is reported by Commander Eichard Byrd in a wireless message received yesterday by Mr. B. G. Brophy, second in command of the expedition, who is in Auckland. The wireless message stated: ".Discovered 14 new mountain peaks on tho flight yesterday (Monday)."
A further message from the expedition states that the Eleanor Boiling was to leave yesterday morning, and will probably arrive at £>unedin on 15th February. Mr. Brophy will leave for Dunedin on Sunday evening to supervise the loading of the Eleanor Boiling, which will sail on the return jour ney to the Antarctic on 17th February Mr. Brophy will then return to Auck land.
Mr. Brophy has received an invitation from the Auckland Harbour Board to bring tho Eleanor Boiling and the City of New York to Auckland when they arrive to Tinter 'in the Dominion. He is inclined to consider the proposal favourably on account of the better climate. , Even if the ships rere movea-herc the major supply bast 1 would be left at Duncdin.
