ESCAPE FROM BURNING HOUSE

AUCKLAND, This, Day.

Awakened by tho sound of crackling at 1.30 o'clock this morning, Frank Box, a milkman at Mangcrc, got his wife and six young children out of their burning house just in time to avert a tragedy. The causo of tho lire is unknown. No. brigade wns available, and owing to the depleted summer water supply a bucket brigade could not be operated. Beforo rushing out through tho front door only a fow articles of clothing could be snatched up. ' Fanned by a strong breeze, tho flames rapidly swept through tho house. Box lost £12 in money. Tho furniture was partially insured. The liveroomed house was owned by Mrs. Edith May.
