THE HON. ALBERT BRUNTNELL

The death is announced of tho Hon. Albert BrimtnelJ, Chief Secretary, following a heart attack. He leaves a widow and six grown-up daughters. Mr. Bruutncll was a most popular Minister. Ho was a fearless and polished orator, and would probably have succeeded Mr. Bavin as the next Premier. His early public lifo was devoted to tho Salvation Army and Temporanco Alliance activities. He was 63 years of ago. Born in Wales, ho came to Australia nearly 40 years ago. Ho was first elected to tho Legislative Assembly in July, 1906, as member for Surry Hills. Ho retained tho seat until tho expiration of tho Parliamont in August, 1907. Ho was not elected to tho following Parliamont, but in 3910 was returned for Anuandale. In 3910 ho was elected for Parramatta, and has sinco represented that district. Jle was Minister for Public Health from February, 1020, until April, 1920, and Minister i'or Public Instruction from April, 1922, until Juno,, 1925. When Sir Georgo Fuller resigned from tho leadership of tho Nationalist party, Mr. Bruntncll was a candidate for tho vacancy, but was defeated by Mr. Bavin. Ho was regarded as ono of tho most able and forceful debaters in tho now Ministry.

Tho remains of tho lal.o Chief Secretary will bo tendered a State- funeral on Saturday.
