PATEA MEAT COMPANY
Mr. A. T. Chrislonseu (chairman of directors) presided at the fifth annual meeting of the Patea District Moat Company. In moving adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet, he referred to the small profit made during the past year (£IBO 15s 3d), but congratulated shareholders on the fact that, despite adverse conditions, the company was enabled, through goodwill of farmers in the district, to carry on. A regrettable shortage of funds during the year necessitated realisation of stock and wool as it came to hand. But he was confident that much better returns would have, been received had the company been financially strong enough to hold. With greater facilities a much increased volume of stock could have been handled at the works during last season's dry spell. The existing prosperity of the country as a whole, however, augured well for the immediate success of the company's operations, and he trusted.that these favourable .conditions;, combined with the hearty cooperation of fanners in support of the works, would continue and result in a more optimistic outlook. The report and bal-ance-sheet were adopted without discussion.
