SCOUT JAMBOREE
The Imperial Jamboree of Boy Scouts is to be held in Cheshire in August next, and arrangements have been made for 21 Scouts from New Zealand to attend. This number, it is pointed out, does not by any means adequately represent the Scout movement in New Zealand. It includes 7 scoutmasters, 0 assistant scoutmasters, 2 assistant cubmasters, and 7 Scouts. By means of "a penny-a-day scheme" sufiicient money (£500) has been provided to pay the costs of six of the Scouts. It is stated that Auckland, which has 2000 Scouts, is sending no representatives, and Christchurch, with 800, is sending none. Wellington, with 2500 Scouts, is sending four representatives, and Dunediu, with 1000 Scouts, is sending six. There are more than 11,000 Scouts in New Zealand, and it is considered that the Dominion's representation could be more than twentyone.
