PRINCESS'S PRIVATE WEDDING

Behind the closed doors of a Jiltlu Catholic Church at Chichcster, a Princess, descended from tho Kings of France, was married ou 12th December to an American. A gold and silver ring, which has passed down through .the Eoyal families of Franco, was used at the ceremony. The brido was Princess Marie Louise of Orleans, daughter of tho Duke and Duchess of Veudome, and the bridegroom was Mr. W. F. Kingsland. In tho Westhampnett register the couple were described as:

William. Frederick Kingsland, bachelor, independent means, ago 40; domicile, Eussell Cottage, longth of residence, threo days; church, St. .Richard's Catholic Church, Southgate, Chiehoster. Marie Louise Fernand Charlotte Henrietta d'Orlcaus, formerly the wife of Phillipp, Prince. of Bourbon, from whom she obtained a divorce, Princess; domicile, Eussell Cottage; longth of residence, more than a year; age 31. Tho ceremony was performed at St. Richard's Church by the parish priest, Father Measures, assisted by Father Cornelius O'Brien. Only members of the two families and close friends were admitted to the church. Both tho Duke, of Vendonie, who is ill, and the Duchess wore represented. , A novel precaution was adopted to ensure that none other than those invited should enter the church. Special brown triangular tickets had been printed, and only half of each ticket was sent to tho guest. The other half was retained by the clergy at the church and the guests on their arrival had to present their pieces. - These were fitted to the corresponding halves, and if they did not fit exactly the bearers were refused admission. When two women arrived late at the church and gave up their tickets it was found that ' the pieces did not fit, and the women were turned away.

Ihe Princess has lived in seclusion for more than a year in an old-world cottage at West Wittering, Sussex, and it was from hero that sho motored to the church. Over a brown dress she wore a cloth coat of the same colour trimmed with fox fur, and around her neck were threo ropes of pearls. The deep hue of her dresa was relieved by a spray of mauvo orchids. Mr. I Kinsslaiid wore a black overcoat and a bowler hat. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom motored to London, where they are spending the first part of their honeymoon.
