PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

A picture with calling adventures amid wonderful scenes of mountain, forest, and river in Alaska is this week the chief attraction at tho Paramount Theatre. It Is entitled "The Michigan Kid," and is a screen version of Ilex Beach's well-known book-. lienee Adorce and Conrad Nasel take tho leading parts. The story opens with scenes connected with a gold rush In the far north. Jimmy Kowan. a successful adventurer and saloon proprietor, and known as "The Michigan Kid," tires of tho rough llfo in which he has played so prominent a part, and longs "to return to his old home in order that he may claim the sweetheart of his childhood. Frank Howard, another childhood friend, meets trouble, in Rowan's saloon, and tells tho owner that he is betrothed, to the same girl, Kosc Morris. Jlayward is not a desirablo character, but Jimmy agrees to assist him monetarily on condition that ho returns to his mine. Rose comes to Alaska, and In a mountain hut, where she and Jimmy are compelled to shelter from a storm, they recognise each other. Hayward comes to meet them, and an exciting fight ensues. The play, however, has a happy ending. Another attraction on the programmo is a further section of "New Greater Collegians," with lots of college life and sport. The music, as usual, is a feature of the entertainment, and excellent renderings arc given of "Marco Spada" (Aubor) mid "India Dawn" (Zamccnik). ■ ■
