CHAMPION CYCLISTS

TO-NIGHT'S SPORTS MEETING

The introduction" of pacemakers in some of the cycle events to bo staged ut the electric light sports meeting at the Basin Bcservo to-night should make for faster times and somo of the most exciting and finest riding seen in- Wellington. For this big gathering tho Wellington Amateur . Athletic Centre has spared no effort in an endeavour to mako tho fixture an outstanding success. Two champions from other.centres T. Oakly, of Wairarapa, holder of two Now Zealand grass track records, and F. Grose, present New Zealand cycling champion—will be competing in a .special three-quarter milo race, accompanied by pacemakers, and also in other events. These two riders.in themselves should be a big draw card, but in addition the cream of Wellington's cyclists will bo taking part in the mooting. The leading athletes will also bo out in force, and tho good performances that arc expected of them should add to the success of tho sports.
