COMMONWEALTH LOAN

The "Daily Herald" says:, "As anticipated, the Australian loan met with a p.oor reception.- It will take some time for the market to absorb the. amount. We hope Australia now will give the gilt-edged market sufficient rest to' make easier any possible Government conversions." (Received 24th January, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd January. There is considerable activity displayed in the new Commonwealth loan scrip and final dealings were at par early wiping off the discount. This is considered as a complete reply to the pessimistic critics ol the loan.
