WORK OF SIR MAUI POMARE

At a recent meeting of the Island Council of Barotonga, the following resolution, proposed by Paroro Mataiapu, and seconded by Tinomana Tuoro, was carried unanimously:—"That this Council place on record its great regret that Sir Maui Pomare, as a result of the recent New Zealand elections, is no longei Minister of the Cook Islands, and the sincere appreciation of all ■Arikis and members of the Council of the wonderful work done by him for the Cook Islands during the.period of his record Ministry—viz., 10th July, 1912, to 7th.December, 1928—and of the harmony and goodwill that have existed throughout the whole of that period. Further, it is earnestly hoped that our late Minister will soon be restored to health and strength, and that he, and Lady Pomare and their family, will be spared to enjoy very many years of happiness and prosperity."
