RIOTOUS WATERSIDERS

ADELAIDE, 14th January.

A thousand waterside workers at Port Adelaide ~ to-day rushed volunteers unloading- the Mareeba during the "smoko." The volunteers scrambled for the gangway, which broke. Fifteen fell on the wharf. They and the others climbed roxaes, crossed over the Mareeba, and jumped into ketches on the other side. Stones were, thrown at them. One volunteer replied by fir- . ing four shots from a revolver. A' hundred and fifty mounted police swooped down on the rioters, who then began to move towards the steamer Mannipa, where volunteers were attacked with- stones and boots.
