STILL UNSETTLED

WESTERLY WEATHER

Although the meteorological situation may be displaying a respite from last night's unpleasant conditions, such a change is only temporary, and there is no indication at. present of any change from the westerly type of weather. A low pressure wave passed over the South Island last night, causing disturbed weather.. Warm, cloudy, and humid conditions developed into rain, being, chiefly light to moderate, but some heavy falls occurred in western districts. Since early this morning there has been a rapid clearance in the weather over the South Island, this morning's reports showing' fair to cloudy conditions generalty. Moderate to strong westerly to northerly winds may still be expected, these being fresh and squally at times south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint. Bain at times may be expected in most districts, but : only scattered on the east coast. A continuance of humid and sultry conditions is forecasted.
