QUICK DISPATCH
BIG CARGO,OF TIMBER
: The American steamer Golden Harvest, ■which left Wellington- this afternoon for Lyttelton, discharged well over a million and a half feet of lumber and 2000 tons of general cargo in the remarkably quick time of five and a half days. She arrived at Wellington on Sunday night, and commenced discharge ,on Monday morning. "Six gangs ,of ten men each were kept at work during the day, and, in addition, several night shifts were put on. during, the week. The ship finished discharge of the local portion of her 1 cargo at noon to-day. Owing to the difficulty of discharging lumber it was anticipated that it would take at least twelve days before the vessel would bo able to proceed to Lyttelton, but with the co-operation of-the shore agents,, it was ■.possible-to clear the ship in less than, half that time.
