"The Times" Rome correspondent i says that the Pope announces that 1929, which marks the jubilee of his first Mass, shall be considered a, holy year. He accordingly grants during the year plenary iiidulgenco on four conditions: (1) Faithful dwelling in the diocese of Homo and pilgrims thereto must twice visit three named Basilicas in order to pray particularly for the conversion of sinners, the extirpation of heresy mid schism, pence and concord of princes, and prosperity and freedom of the Catholic Church and tho head thereof, ~ If persons are prevented by distance or other legitimate reason from complying, confessors may commute them to visits to 3 parish church.' (2) Additional fasts must, be observed. (3) Make additional confession and partake of extra Communion. (4) Make charitable offerings according to means, and according to confessors' advice. Such offering will be made an important work; for example, the propagation and preservation of tho faith. Jubilee indulgence may bo earned several times, but additional indulgences must bo for the benefit of souls in purgatory. ■ . , ■ The Pope bolicvos that the faithful should hasten, to avail themselves of thid precious spiritual opportunity for morals and faith and Christian piety.
