Mr; Allan Wilkie 'and ' his Shakespearian Company will; commence a soason at the Grand Opera/ House on Saturday evening, the 2Cth instant. Miss Hunter-Watts, whose histrionic talent was widely acclaimed during the company's previous visits to tho Dominion, will again support Mr. Wilkie in, leading ' femalo roles. The organisation, which comprises over thirty performers, has lately been reinforced by a number of new artists, including Mr. Alexander Marsh, who was for a long while master uf his own Shakespearian company at Home. He is described as a polished exponent of Shakespeare with a singularly musical voice, and he is reported to have already won golden opinions in Australia. Miss Lorna . Forbes, whose dignified portrayals of leading female characters were highly commended during previous New Zealand tours of tho company, will again appear in prominent parts. Another loading performer will be Mr. Dennis Barry, whoso flno acting will bo remembered by Wellington patrons, figuring so pleasingly as he did as Puck in "A Midsummer. Night's Dream " and as Romeo, Orlando, Florizol, etc. Prominent new members of the company are Mr. Kusscll Chapman, who conies from Melbourne and Miss Hilda Scurr, late of Dunedin. Since last in New Zealand Mr. Wilkie has added new effects and scenery. By what Is described as a clever system of colourful suggestion, Mr. Wilkie has obtained tho desirable stage economy of time which makes for continuityof action. In addition to favourite plays staged during the previous tour of the Dominion, Mr. Wilkie will present "Coriolanus," "The Taming of the Shrew," "The Merry Wives of Windsor," "Henry, the Fifth," "Othello," King Lear," and '"All's Well That Ends Well. As in the past, the orchestral music will be engagingly appropriate.
