The New Zealand, championship eights -were set- down ffor decision at Corsair Bay on Easter Saturday, but it is likely that the date will be altered (states the. Clinstchuroh, "Star"). The Queenstqwn .regatta is held on Easter Saturday, and will draw entries from Otago and Southland, with the result that Otago will; not bo able to send a crew for the championship-eights. The success rof the most spectacular race of the-year depends, upon: a large and representative ; entry,..and: it would be a pity if •:,Otago.. were deprived of the chance of. competing. Such deprivation might do a great deal of harm to the sport in Otago,- especially when it is remembered that it was., only after a chance row on the Dunedin Harbour that Otago decided to, compete in the eights last season. .The more entries for. the eights the more meritorious would be the -win, and the greater the honoxirof holding.tlie Gold Cup, at pre. sent in Canterbury's keeping.
