BOWLERS ENTERTAINED
A HAPPY FUNCTION
Biddiford Park and the; Hutt. grounds were looking'their best yesterday, when the members" of. the Waiimarie and HuttCroquet Clubs entertained'the wives of the visiting Australian', bowlers. The visitors were charmed with'tho * surroundings, and entered, heartily into the competitions provided.- Quite a number of the Victorian bowlers-were playing on the Hutt green,"and the visitors were able to follow ■'the..progress .of the bowling as well.'.. The party' 'was.met by Mrs. Eddie, president, 'dud; Mesdaines Eddie, Mouat,- and Exton,,-' vice-presi-dents, and' Mrs. I O. ; S. Watkins. Mr. Watkins, in welcoming the visitors, said what an excellent, thing ;'■ the interchange of visits among bowlers was for everyone, and the ladies of the, croquet section'wero.'.delighte'di.tqiiieetth^ croquet players 'fromipyerseas.' Miv.Straud, Mayor of Lower Hutt,; also'-exteuded a welcome, and invited all to inspect the Eiddiford Baths and-'other places of interest. Mrs. Cumming, of Bellevue Hill, -New South Wales, replied, and said they wore' delighted with the wonderful reception they had ■ received whereverthey went in -NcwZealtiiidi 1 The winners of the competitions, were: Putting, Mrs. Walters, Mosman, r-.Ne-w' SouthWales; clock, Mrs. ' Cumming,-'' 'New South Wales; squares, Mrs, Douglas, Victoria. Rousing cheers were given for the visitors, who cheered lustily in response and concluded by giving a concerted Australian coo-ee.
