" The Cuban stowaway, .Jackson, who' wjis one of those involved in the Jeivois Bay trouble, has been detained at Hull and is causing comic commotion in official circles. British officials declare , that Jackson at first swore that he was born at Hull. The, authorities extensively,investigated the statement, but without success. Jackson -then said that he was born at Liverpool. Similar investigations with a similar result. When the Cuban was again informed he replied that, ho was born lat Brisbane. Officials state >that the possibilities are enormous because Jackson may swear that his birthplace was any one of thousands of towns, each necessitating fruitless investigation.
Official circles believe that if. Jackson was'born in Britain, then he must be freed. If he was born anywhere else, then the Commonwealth, from which ho came, must repatriate him. In the meantime, this central figure of a world-wide nine daysj wonder continues to be kept at British expense. His compatriots, who all wore British, were freed as soon as they landed from Colombo. ■.
