Sir Basil Blackett.considers that the Communications Company will increase . the cheapness and efficiency of Empire communications. Its, dividends will be 6 per cent., and "any excess profits will be divisible equally between the company and the reduction of rates, or other purposes approved by the Advisory Committee. v . . "This is a big new advance oh the lines of inter-Imperial public utility service, substituting co-operativo ■ de-' velopnient in telegraphic communications for uneconomic competition," he said, "securing all the attendant 'advantages at cheaper rates for the public." : ..■"■■ The sale to the Communications Company 'of the assets of the cable and Marconi companies in exchange for Communications Company's shares prb-1 vides a capital of £30,000,000.
