.ALL GERMANY ANGRY PRANCE DEMANDS A FINE Australian Press Association. . BERLIN, 9th January. There has been a storm of protest throughout Germany at the issue of a, warrant at Metz demanding £120,345 fine and law costs against Dr. Roechling, the industrial magnate of Saarbrucken. A French' military court in 1919 condemned Eoechling to ten years' ponal banishment from the Saar and to pay a fine of ten million francs, on the ground of his exploitation of French mines in German occupied territory. Later the French and German Governments, by special agreement, quashed the conviction, but the French did not abandon the claim to the fine, which they.arc-now demanding, with interest. The Metz authorities are threatening to use force to compel its execution. . Boeehling protests that, the demand is characteristic of the French. They talk peace and keep up the greatest army in Europe. They sign the Kellogg Pact and spend milliards in armaments. ... ■
