IN HOPE OF AMENDMENTS
Mr. L. 0. If. Tripp, president of the Associated Clubs of New Zealand, said that ho had fully expected that the vote against Prohibition would be increased, but that he was disappointed that the vote in favour of State Control had not been much larger. Personally ho was of the opiuiou that some form of Government or Corporate Control, free from political influence, would . go far to solvo the liquor problem. In view of the overwhelming defeat of Prohibition, he said he was now very hopeful that it would bo possible to obtain legislation removing some of the absurd restrictions that existed in. tho present law.
