A FINE BROADCAST
Last night 2YA was "on the air," though "Wednesday is its regular silent day. The break of tho. rule was to enable Hie iirst concert oii tho new Wellington Symphony Orchestra to be hoard beyond the small confines of tho Town Hall Concert Chamber. No doubt thousands of people heard it; and nobody with a good receiver can have failed to enjoy it, unless they were unable to appreciate the class-of music provided. Tlio broadcast was one of SYA's best efforts, and was in striking contrast to some of its work during tho past few weeks, during which very serious tiaws were allowed for a time to exist. As an orchestral broadcast it could have been little improved, if at all. Considering the large size of the orchestra, the high quality of the transmission was all the more creditable. The reproduction of the piano in the Greig Concerto was astonishingly good, and certainly the best the writer remembers' having heard. The whole effort well '.deserves to go on the list of really fine accomplishments.
