Some Auckland grocers are complaining of cutting the price of sugar. Examination of comparative figures show that a 701b bag of No. 1A sugar, costs the grocer 13s l%d net cash. For this, it is contended, he should receive" 16s, but several grocers have been quoting 14s 3d, and some 14s. The'secretary of the Grocers' Federation claims that grocers who expect to pay high rents demanded and wages now current need an average return of at least 20 per cent, on turnover.
