M'Donald, United Party, candidate for Wairarapn, at a nieeting at IPeatherston, Tho candidate replied: "I went on a farm at the age of thirteen at 6s a week, milked nine cows, ploughed, erected fences, killed and dressed mutton, pork, arid beef; erected stacks, reaped, sowed, and mowed seven.years, arid learned the art of soldiering during the spare-time I had." He stated that in felling a tree or setting a crosscut saw he would hold his own with any irian of his age iii the district.
