In JTSo Lionel Lukin, a Loiidun conchbuilder, fitted up a Norway ymvl -with air-boxes at-the stem and stern, and fixed a'belt of solid cork along the outside of the gunwale, thus making the first iusubmersible boat. In IS2-1 the Royal National Lifeboat Institution was founded, and i(s fleet consists of about 217 boats, including 55 motor lifeboats. Over 60,200 lives have been saved by the institution.
