TO-DAY'S PLAY
OVERWHELMING LEADS (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DTJNEDIN, This Day. . The weather is overcast, with very little wind. The semi-final of the professional championship and third round of the amateur championship (both 3'i holes) are being played. The first IS holes resulted:— PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. A. J. Shaw, 2 up on Douglas. J. M'lntosh, 3 up on Clements. AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. ' O. B. Wight, 9 up on J. L. Black. S. C. Colbeck, 1 up on J. D. Duncan. T. H. Horton, 4 up on H. A. Black. Dr. Ross, 10 up on A. G. Sime. SENSATIONAL EOUND. Douglas had the advantage at the turn, but Shaw's better putting reversed the position. Both played good long games. Shaw took 74 and Douglas 76. M'lntosh's 73 enabled him to establish a lead of 3 on Clements, whose putting was weak. Wight created a sensation by , recording a 67, which is an unofficial course record for Balmacewan. He was out in 31 and in in 36. Black played a good 76J which was useless against Wight's super golf. ■• - The closest match this morning was between Duncan and Colbeck. There was never more than one between them, and in Colbeck's favour at tho end of the round. The gallery that followed the EossSime match were given a finished .display of 71 by Boss, but a very disappointing showing by Sime, who visited the bunkers, was short in his approaches and bad in putting.
