DAMAGE BY FIRE
BLAZE IN AUCTION ROOM (By Telegraph.—Press Association.* ■ CHRISTCHUKCH, This Day. A fire in the premises of Wallace, Wade, and Co., Ltd., auctioneers, in Manchester street, last night did damage to the extent of. over SIOOO. The fire commenced in a lean-to at the side and rear of the building,, and spread quickly to the walls and roof, but did uo t do any damage to the main building, part of which is sub-let to various tenants. The rear portion of the. auction hall will have to be rebuilt. , The building is owned by Mr. P. S. Nicholls, and the whole of the grou \& floor is leased to Wallace, Wade, a.ad Co. The stock in the auction .rooms, including seven pianos, was considerably damaged by smoke and water. The loss is covered by insurance with the Alliance office.
