Police eases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, 'Minnie Walsh, aged 50, a third statutory offender for drunkenness, with a total of thirty previous convictions, was fined 10s, in default three days' imprisonment. With a list of 32 previous convictions, Annie Lund, alias M'Cartncy alias Chambers, a domestic, aged 04, who admitted having been found unlawfully in an enclosed yard at 22, Tennyson street, was sentenced to one i niontli 's imprisonment. At the request of Chief-Detective Ward, a remand was granted until to-morrow in the case of Gordon Lornas. Amundsen, aliast Amunsden, a plumber, aged 28, who pleaded guilty to the theft of a pair of I fieldglasses, valued at £10, the property | of Isobcl Keancy. The Chief-Detec- j tivo said that thore were two other charges of theft pending against the accused. Ben Geinmell, a labourer, aged 24, j pleaded guilty to failing to acount for I £10 received, from Herbert Mallinson, jun., on behalf of Herbert Mallinson, sen. The facts, said Chief-Detective Ward, were that Mallinson, jun., was a seaman on one of the Union Company's ships, and when in Wellington recently gave tho accused £10 to send to Mallinson, sen., as his ship was leaving and ho would not have the opportunity to send it himself. The accused, commenced drinking, and said he had spent all the money that way. The accused was convicted and fined £5, and ordered to repay tho. money at tho rate of £1 10a per week, in default two months' imprisonment. "I£ you will give me a chance, I'll take out a prohibition order and go back, to my husband," said Esther Gribble, a domestic, aged 43, who pleaded guilty to having been found unlawfully in a house at 22, Tennyson street. The accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within twelve months if called upon, a condition being made that she takes out a prohibition order. Clara Kennedy, alias Rose Flannigan, alms Clara Emily Wylie, a domestic, aged 30, and Samuel Arthur Downing, an iron moulder, aged 46, were each sentenced to two months' imprisonment for committing a grossly indecent act. Two first offenders for drunkenness appeared before Mr. G. Pethcrick, J.P., at the Mount Cook Police Court this morn- j ing, and wore convicted and discharged.
