EXIT THE SHINGLE
HAIR TO GROW AGAIN THE DREADFUL INTERIM Australian Cress Association. (Received 16th October, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 15th October. Dame Clara Butt confessed at "the opening .of the Hairdressers' Fair at White City that she had hot liked the shingle five years ago, but now she was converted, and often envied the shingled girls, thinking hard about it. The, exhibition; however, revealed that Dame Butt was too late, for the shingle is definitely dying fast. Hairdressers admit the fact. The exhibition is almost confined to models of mannequins showing how to dress the hair, while growing, each with a small bunch of waved curls on the nape of the neck or tied over the ears. The "Daily Express" describes the intermediate growing stage like a phantasina or hideous dream, but men will cheerfully help the women through, hoping the worst is now over. ' The annual exhibition at Paris to-day revealed the same thing.
