THE WEATHER
MILD TEMPERATURES LIKELY During the past twenty-four hours there have been a few isolatod showers, chiefly on the east coast, otherwise the weather has been fair to cloudy. Temperatures were cool yesterday, and frosts were recorded last night at some inland places, but by this morning conditions had become milder, with less cloudiness than yesterday. A moderate anti-cyclone has moved on to New Zealand, its centre being located north of Auckland, but pressure now shows a falling tendency in southern parts. The forecast is for light southerly; winds at first north of New Plymouth and Napier, veering later to northerlies and freshening elsewhere, freshening from the north and at times reaching gale force in and south of Cook Strait. Fair to fine weather is likely at first, with rain setting in shortly on the west coast of the South Island, and later extending to other districts with a westerly aspect. Mild temperatures can be expected;
